FOSS BOLSTERS HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT WITH NEW HIRE

Allen Rainsberger Joins Company as Director of Health and Safety

Seattle, November 28, 2006—Foss Maritime Company, a Seattle-based marine services company specializing in worldwide marine transportation and logistics (online at www.foss.com), announced today that it has appointed Allen Rainsberger as director of health and safety.

Rainsberger will join an expanding department at Foss, headed by the 117-year-old company’s first health, safety, quality & environment vice president, Susan Hayman.

Rainsberger specializes in environmental and occupational safety and worked to create safe work conditions and practices at Todd Pacific Shipyards for over 25 years. As a liaison to local, Washington state and Federal regulatory bodies for Todd Shipyards, Rainsberger ensured that safety, health and environmental regulations were met. He also managed the Todd Safety Response Team, performing audits and evaluating fire prevention procedures.

A graduate of Western States University in Doniphan, Missouri and with an associate’s degree in law enforcement from Bellevue Community College in Bellevue, WA, Rainsberger is an active member of many local and statewide safety and environmental boards.

“A key part of Foss’ mission is to pursue perfection in our health, safety, quality and compliance initiatives,” said Susan Hayman, vice president of health, safety, quality & environment for Foss. “We have embarked on a new course of enhancements to our current programs, including bolstering our in-house safety team. Allen Rainsberger is an excellent addition to our team—we will benefit greatly from his knowledge and experience.”

Other measures Foss is taking to reach its goal of 100% safety include a complete overhaul and streamlining of its safety data reporting process, the continued implementation and enhancement of its safety management system (ISM), and the establishment of regional safety committees.

In addition to enhancing its in-house safety staff, Foss plans to employ the help of a third-party safety expert to help Foss perform a rigorous self assessment—reviewing current programs, performing safety leadership training and making recommendations for new behavior-based programs.
